Presenting a Program on Naturalization
Other Ideas
- Produce a video that highlights naturalized individuals in the community.
- Law Day planners can create a video that highlights naturalized individuals and their
contribution to the community. The video can also portray the history of immigration to
the community and its diversity. You can showcase the video at a Law Day ceremony or
awards ceremony, and can distribute it to public schools for use in social studies
classes, or make it available to local groups.
- "Adopt-a-Class" at a local school to speak to schoolchildren about
naturalization. Law Day planners can work with teachers to provide guest speakers to
discuss naturalization and immigration with school children. Law Day people and
naturalized citizens can visit the class together. You can speak about the importance of
naturalization and describe the process while the naturalized citizen talks about his or
her reasons for becoming a a U.S citizen and the impact it has had on his or her life.

This article was prepared by the ABA Center for
Immigration Law and Representation. The Center, with the ABA Coordinating Committee on
Immigration Law, conducts a variety of activities to improve the rights of immigrants and
increase their access to the justice system. The Center also educates lawyers, state and
federal judges, and members of the public about the scope and effect of the immigration
laws. The Center is completing a guide for involving bar members and associations in
naturalization outreach and assistance initiatives.
