Lunch 'n' Learn the Law Programs
Short Cuts
- Partner with a well-connected group such as United Way or United Charities. Such
groups already have relationships with the right companies and can give a sense of which
are the best candidates.
- Get on the agenda of a Rotary Club or Chamber of Commerce meeting and make a
presentation about the project. Youll be able to answer corporate questions on
format and focus immediately. Dont forget to bring a flier or card with your phone
number.
- Use the ABAs Lunch n Learn recruitment videotape, specially
produced by the Division for Public Education. "Lunch n Learn the Law
(PC# 468-0055, $15) is a light-hearted 7-minute promo that effectively demonstrates the
need to present Lunch n Learn programs. It's available through the online Products Catalog.
- After the mailing has been sent, call each company to ascertain their interest in
the program. Remind the corporate contacts that the Lunch n Learn program is
cost-free.
Tips
At the Lunch 'N' Learn Session:
- Have handouts and resource materials available at the presentation -- Giving the
audience something to take home reinforces what they have just heard. ABA brochures,
videotapes and publications can be useful for many of the suggested topics and can provide
relief from the talking-head syndrome.
- The project coordinator should see that all the necessary equipment and materials are
ready and should attend each session if possible to introduce the speaker and provide
general assistance.
- Presentations typically begin with a half-hour talk followed by a 20-minute question and
answer period.
- Follow your presentations with a written evaluation from participants.
