Producing a Call-in Show
Pitching Your Show

You can often reach larger numbers by appearing on existing shows and the cost is minimal, if anything. However, in order to rate a guest spot, your group needs to take creative steps. Securing time on a radio talk show might be easier than getting on TV, particularly in larger city markets. Either way, pitch your people and purpose early and often. Television and radio producers appreciate clear and timely ideas and are always looking for local experts on hot issues.

Survey local airwaves and examine the demographics of local broadcasters and particular shows to learn who they reach. Select a topic that will click with the audience. Then, pitch your idea to the appropriate broadcaster.

Call your carriers two to three months before Law Day to identify their contact person and determine their scheduling needs. Send your "pitch letter" (see sample) to suit their schedule and follow-up with a phone call.
