Mediation
Researching Local Programs & Experts

Begin by finding out what mediation services are available in your area to locate experts. In addition to court-related services, there may be community programs or private mediation centers listed in the yellow pages under "mediation services." Bar associations may give you names of mediation specialists or may have their own mediation program. The Martindale-Hubbell Dispute Resolution Directory lists mediators in every state. National dispute resolution organizations can also be found on the web.

If your audience includes elementary or high school students, check to see if area schools have a peer mediation program. If not, you may wish to have a speaker who can teach students about mediation techniques and have them practice resolving their own disputes.
