Wisconsin is celebrating Law Day

Law Day Official Schedule sponsored by the Milwaukee Bar Association:

Saturday, April 25th: Boy Scout Event at MBA. Boy Scouts earn official “Legal Badge” through series of speakers/presentations based on different legal topics.

Friday, May 1st: Choose Law Program at Washington High School. An attorney and judge do a presentation to high school students on what it takes to become an attorney, and why it is a career they should choose.

Friday, May 1st: Call-in phone bank at Channel 6. 5:00 and 6:00 newscasts as well as the 9:00 and 10:00. Live Web chat from 4-7. Public calls in to attorneys featured on Fox 6 news.

Saturday, May 2nd: 4 legal clinics open from 10-2 at the below locations in Milwaukee:

Tuesday, May 5th: Legal Clinic at Alverno for students from 10-6 in cafeteria.

Every Wednesday evening in May: Legal presentations at the Waukesha County Courthouse based on the topics of:

OAR, Eviction/tenant, Post-judgment custody/child support, foreclosure/mediation, bankruptcy/debt consolidation, juvenile/guardianship, probate

Jefferson County Wisconsin
Jefferson County Wisconsin will be hosting Law Day events for 4-5 grade and 8th grade students on May 1, 2009. We hold mock trials and have courthouse and jail tours. The Sheriff's Department staff give presentations about the SWAT equipment and other specialty units such as the canine unit, snowmobile/boating units, etc.
State Bar Young Lawyers Division
On May 1, 2009, attorneys throughout Wisconsin will visit local schools to celebrate Law Day. For the fourth year in a row, the State Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) organized a legion of attorney volunteers to go into classrooms around the state. For 2009, the YLD has successfully increased the number of counties it will reach in its efforts to discuss and educate students on the importance of law.
