Law Day Events

Louisiana

The Baton Rouge Bar Foundation

The Baton Rouge Bar Foundation is expecting over 1,200 middle and high school students to attend the Law Day celebration on Friday, May 1, 2009.

The celebration begins with a formal ceremony at 9:00 a.m., which will include the opening of Federal Court, a keynote address, a naturalization ceremony and poster and essay awards presentations. Students will then walk to their pre-assigned courtrooms in neighboring courthouses for interactive sessions with judges, attorneys and law enforcement officers. Twenty courtrooms are reserved for the sessions. The celebration concludes with a bag lunch. Activities during lunch include a mock vote, the “Fatal Vision” program and a Teen Court recruitment table and Teen Dating Violence Prevention information table. The students are asked to bring canned food items to be donated to the Food Bank.
