Albany County Bar Association is celebrating Law Day
On April 25, 2008, the Albany County Bar Association will host the Fourteenth Annual Law Day Run Against Domestic Violence held at Washington Park in Albany. This event is not only fun for all who participated, but helps raise precious funds to assist victims of Domestic Violence here in the Capital District. Last year, over 300 runners participated in our Run, and based on the numerous inquires made we are anticipating that approximately 500 attorneys and members of the general public will participate this year. Due to the generosity of many sponsors in the past, we were able to raise far in excess of $20,000 to benefit local shelters and agencies offering costly and much-needed assistance to victims of domestic violence. Assisting the victims of domestic violence is a very important mission, one to which the ACBA feels very committed.

Town of Babylon Youth Court is celebrating Law Day
On May 14, 2008, the Town of Babylon Youth Court will be presenting a mock trial written and produced by the staff and youth members. The trial is loosely based on the Shrek movie series, Prince Charming vs. The Estate of King Harold. The cause of action is breach of contract relative to the rightful heir to the throne. The kids will all be in costume.
Law Day affords us the opportunity to share the extraordinary commitment our members have made to our community and serves well as a team building exercise. The families and local elected officials will be enlightened as well as entertained.
