Johnson County is celebrating Law Day 2008

Johnson County (Iowa ) celebrates Law Day 2008 on Tuesday, April 29, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the historic Johnson County Courthouse in Iowa City, Iowa. Everyone who works in the courthouse will greet the public at an open house with popcorn, cookies, and food for thought. Crime Dog McGruff will be on hand as well as Coralville’s K-9 Officer Ivan. Iowa Legal Aid and the Small Claims Mediators will provide information kiosks. Each courtroom will feature special programming.

The Linn County (Iowa) Bar Association is celebrating Law Day 2008

The Linn County (Iowa) Bar Association and the Iowa District Court for Linn County (both based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa) are co-sponsoring a Law Day event on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm at the Linn County Courthouse, Third Avenue Bridge, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We will be offering courthouse tours and refreshments while a Power Point slide show runs continuously in one of the courtrooms. Also, Judges, attorneys and high school students will make presentations on various topics, including a Mock Trial demonstration (by an award-winning High School team), the Court's Pro Se family law forms, and a Juvenile Summit. Also, attendees can observe actual small claims eviction hearings with a special effort to make the hearings "spectator-friendly." In addition, a variety of legal resources and service providers (including the Iowa Child Support Recovery Unit, Iowa Legal Aid, Iowa State Bar Association, Kids First Law Center, and others) will have information tables.
