Kona is celebrating Law Day 2008
Chief Justice Ronald Moon of the Hawaii Supreme Court will be celebrating Kona Law Week on Monday, May 12, 2008 with the legal community in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
This year the West Hawaii Bar Association (WHBA) in Kona is sponsoring a Law Week essay contest on the American Bar Association's (ABA) theme: THE RULE OF LAW: FOUNDATION FOR COMMUNITIES OF OPPORTUNITY AND EQUITY.
Courthouse field trips will take place early this year in celebration of Kona Law Week on April 17, 21, and 22, 2008, with students from Kealakehe and Konawaena Elementary Schools visiting the courtrooms of Judge Ronald Ibarra, Judge Elizabeth Strance, and Judge Joseph Florendo.
Elementary school students will also participate in a poster contest based on the ABA theme.
Kona Law Week is sponsored by the Judiciary of the State of Hawaii, West Hawaii Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division of the Hawaii State Bar Association, and coordinated by WHBA President Bob Kim, Vice President Daniel Peters, Secretary Vicki Kalman, Treasurer Margaret Masunaga, and HSBA Board member Carol Kitaoka.
