Law Day Events

Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. is Celebrating Law Day.

The United States Court of Federal Claims will host it's 5th Annual Law Day Observance on May 1, 2008. The Court with the support if the Court of Federal Claims Bar Association, will host a luncheon at the Willard Intercontinental in Washington, DC, with special guest speaker The Honorable Royce C. Lamberth, incoming Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. The court takes this opportunity to reach beyond its family of practitioners to inform a wider audience of the significance of having a court where citizens may sue their sovereign.

In 1861, President Lincoln said of the court:
It is as Much the Duty of Government to Render Prompt Justice Against Itself, in Favor of Citizens, as it is to Administer the Same, Between Private Individuals.
