National events
The American Bar Association is celebrating Law Day on May 1.
May 1
8:00 A.M. - 10:15 A.M. L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, Washington, DC. The Close Up Foundation and the American Bar Association Division for Public Education will host a breakfast for more than 100 high school and middle school teachers from around the country. Karen Mathis, President of the American Bar Association, will address the teachers.
12:00 P.M. - 1:30 P.M. Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Washington, DC. ABA President Karen Mathis and Washington, DC leaders will engage Ellington students in an ABA sponsored Dialogue on Youth and Justice.
4:45 P.M. - 7:15 P.M. Library of Congress, James Madison Building, Madison Hall, Washington, DC. The ABA Division for Public Education in conjunction with the Law Library of Congress, the ABA Standing Committee on the Law Library of Congress, and the Federation of State Humanities Councils is hosting the 7th Annual Leon Jaworski Public Program, a panel discussion entitled "Perspectives on Childhood and the Law." Panelists include Antoinette Sedillo Lopez, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Professor of Law, University of New Mexico; Stephen J. Morse, Ferdinand Wakeman Hubbell Professor of Law and Professor of Psychology and Law in Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania School of Law; Karen Pittman, Executive Director, Forum for Youth Investment, Hon. David Young, Judge 8th Circuit, State of Maryland, Circuit Court; Michael Zuckerman, Professor of History, University of Pennsylvania. The panel will be moderated by John Milewski, Broadcast Journalist.
