2007 Law Day Breakfast to Feature 2007 National CASA Association Judge of the Year!

Please make plans to join fellow members of the ACBA, area community leaders and area high school students at this Law Day special breakfast. "Liberty Under Law: Empower Youth, Assuring Democracy" will focus on the role of youth in the justice and foster care systems. The goal of this event is to bring forward the challenges facing America's children, both within and outside of the justice system.

This year, the ACBA is proud to have as its guest speaker Judge Chris Melonakis of the 17th Judicial District. Judge Melonakis is the 2007 National CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program Judge of the Year. Judge Melonakis has been active for many years working to improve the handling of dependency and neglect cases, and increase collaborative efforts of courts, local departments of social services, attorneys and others involved in serving the needs of children and families.

Expanding Law Day more into the community, local government officials have been invited to attend the Law Day Breakfast. Let's show them that the ACBA is a vital positive force in the community. We hope to see you there to mingle with members of the community and be mentors to the students.

Please feel free to invite a teenager to be your special guest!
