Kern County is celebrating Law Day on May 1st 2007
In Kern County, California, Kern County Superior Court organizes the local Law Day observance, in collaboration with the Kern County Law Library, Kern County Superintendent of Schools and Kern County Bar Association. This project seems to expand exponentially every year. Law Day has expanded to Law Week. Events that are open to the public, free of charge, are listed on the following site: law-week2007.pdf
We have additional events that are not open to the public, and are not included on the website. Several programs will take place on high school campuses, for students only. We have requested an appearance by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday, May 4, due to his strong support of youth intervention programs, which tie well with this year's Law Day theme. His scheduling office has acknowledged our request, and we are hoping that he can stop long enough in Bakersfield to participate in a truancy sweep ride-along and visit one of our state-of-the-art juvenile intervention programs.
