The Public Education Division of the ABA celebrates National
Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15October 15) by featuring
four prominent Hispanic-American lawyers and jurists throughout
the month. These individuals are being recognized for their exemplary
service to the community, their professional record of groundbreaking
achievements, and their exemplary service to the legal profession.

for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
Week 2: Elma Teresa Salinas EnderThe first Mexican-American
woman appointed & elected to a District Court in Texas, 1983.
Week 3: Justice Carlos MorenoSworn in as an Associate
Justice of the Supreme Court of California in October 2001, he
is the third judge of Hispanic heritage to serve in the court's
150-year history.
Week 4: Alberto R. GonzalesCommissioned as Counsel
to President George W. Bush in 2001, Justice Al Gonzales formerly
sat on the Texas Supreme Court.
