| The presentation of this year's Isidore Starr Award for Excellence in Law-Related Education was the highlight of the conference's final day events. The "Father of Law-Related Education," Dr. Isidore Starr, presented the 2002 award to Annette Boyd-Pitts of Tallahassee, Florida.
Long active in law-related education, Pitts has served as the excutive director of the Florida Law-Related Education Association, Inc., since its inception in 1984. The association is dedicated to improving quality civics, government, and law-related education opportunities for Florida students. Pitts has received numerous awards citing her professional accomplishments, including the National Improvements in Justice Award, the Florida Council for the Social Studies Outstanding Citizen Award, Who's Who in American Education, and congressional commendations for her work in civic education.
The ABA Division for Public Education created the Starr Award in 1983 to celebrate outstanding achievements.
