Conversations on Law & Liberty in Times of Crisis: Online Resources for Parents and Teachers

Talking to Young Children
This guide is designed to introduce parents and teachers of young children (preschool through sixth grade) to the many resources available online that
  • Help adults talk to young children about the September 11 terrorist attacks, violent images they may see on the news, or other traumatic events.

  • Introduce children to stories of important people and events in American history and develop and understanding of American institutions and traditions.

  • Offer age-appropriate lesson plans and activities to teachers and parents seeking to help young children process and comprehend some of the issues America is facing after September 11.
The guide is a selective compilation of quality sites that the ABA Division for Public Education has identified as offering thoughtful, accessible information for parents and teachers and the children in their care. We encourage you to explore these sites on your own and with the children in your homes and classrooms.
