How to Use the Pipeline Diversity Directory

Go to www.abanet.org/op/pipelndir/search.cfm, and try a few searches. Select which characteristic(s) to use as your primary search criteria. To narrow your search results, you may use one criterion or a combination of criteria, such as:

  • FOCUS - Recruitment, Education, and Career Transition
  • TARGETED STUDENTS - Race/ethnicity of primary participants
  • EDUCATION LEVEL - Grade-level of program's primary participants
  • COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION - Program's location, e.g., rural or metropolitan area

For example, if you want to find all the programs in the Directory that target African-American high school students, you would click on TARGETED STUDENTS: African American and EDUCATION LEVEL: High School, and click Submit.

Your search results page will show a listing of program titles that meet your selected criteria, with a View link for each title. You can then click View to access the individual profile for each program listed.

For more information on a particular program, contact the person noted in the program profile.

Search Tips:

  • To see ALL THE ENTRIES in the Directory, leave all the criteria selection boxes blank; do not click on any criteria. Simply, click the Submit button and a listing of all the entries in the Directory will appear on the search results page.
  • If there are no entries on the search results page, the Directory does not yet include any programs that meet the specified criteria OR the information submitted for some programs do not fully reflect the program's characteristics.
  • If the search yields no results, conduct another search but use fewer criteria.
  • Access the FAQ page if you encounter difficulty in using the Directory.
  • Contact the ABA Office of Diversity Initiatives (312.988.6086 or pipelinediversity@staff.abanet.org) if you need additional assistance or have suggestions for improving the Directory.
