The members of our armed services make enormous sacrifices for our nation, at little pay and great hardship to their families. When legal problems arise, involving finances and family matters, they deserve to have proper legal assistance. The ABA Standing Committee on Legal Assistance for Military Personnel invited me to participate in their fall program at the U.S. Coast Guard Integrated Support Command. Coast Guard lawyer explains the value of legal assistance for enlisted personnel.
On my visit to the Coast Guard base, I also met with enlisted personnel and their JAG lawyers, who told me what it means to their peace of mind to know that their legal needs are being taken care of when they are out on an icebreaker for months at a time.
