PRESIDENTIAL ADVISORY COUNCIL ON DIVERSITY IN THE PROFESSION
Works to build the pipeline to a profession that looks like America
The American Bar Association's Presidential Advisory Council on Diversity in the Profession (ACD) has the general charge to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the legal profession and within the ABA. Our programs and services specifically address issues that enhance diversity in the pipeline to the legal profession, by:
Increasing awareness of and supporting programs that help students of color overcome the financial, educational and cultural barriers to law school admission, graduation and admission to the bar.
Inspiring and empowering more students of color to pursue and successfully navigate the path to a legal career.
Promoting an understanding of the desirability and necessity of diversity in the profession that fosters public trust and confidence in the legal system and our democracy.
The ABA President appoints the 25 ACD members and its Chair. The Chair is Ruthe C. Ashley, President/CEO at California ALL in Sacramento, California.
ACD is housed in the Center for Racial and Ethnic Diversity. The Staff:
