Law Students
ABA Law Students must be currently enrolled at an ABA-Approved law school. Admittance to the Bar renders an applicant ineligible. $25
Dues Reductions
The American Bar Association offers reduced dues to eligible individuals and groups. You may qualify for a special dues reduction if you are --
1. A member of the Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division (GPSLD).
GPSLD members enjoy a special joint rate that covers membership in this Division and certain Sections
2. A judge or lawyer in public service. If you are a judge or lawyer in public service, you are eligible for these reduced dues:
If your dues are $125, your reduced rate is $93.75.
If your dues are $135, your reduced rate is $101.25.
If your dues are $145, your reduced rate is $108.75
If your dues are $155, your reduced rate is $116.25
If your dues are $175, your reduced rate is $131.25
If your dues are $210, your reduced rate is $157.50
If your dues are $250, your reduced rate is $187.50
If your dues are $275, your reduced rate is $206.25
If your dues are $299, your reduced rate is $224.25
If your dues are $399, your reduced rate is $299.25
3. A member born before 1938. Call 1.800.285.2221 to find out whether you are eligible for reduced dues.
4. Disabled. A member who has become disabled is entitled to a membership dues exemption for the term of his or her disability.
If you are eligible for but not currently receiving a reduced rate, please call the ABA Service center at 1.800.285.2221 to have your dues rate adjusted.
Specialty Membership Discount: Lawyer members 1 to 5 years admitted to the bar (original bar date) are entitled to a $40 discount from total invoice amount to cover all or most of the cost of one ABA Section, Division, or Forum. Young lawyers can use this offer to try a new Section or apply all or most of it toward a Section to which they already belong. This $40 coupon may only be applied toward Section membership dues and cannot be used to pay ABA membership dues. ABA membership dues must be paid in full in order to redeem the coupon. If the total of ABA Section dues is greater than $40, please pay the difference at the time of redemption. Please call the ABA Service Center at 1.800.285.2221 to have your $40 discount applied.
ABA membership dues include $5.50 for a basic annual subscription to ABA Journal (12x/yr), which is not deductible from the dues. Section membership dues include a basic annual subscription for the following periodicals, also not deductible from the respective Section's dues.
