FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN LAWYERS

NAWL WRITES LETTER TO PRESIDENT BUSH URGING STEPS TO SAFEGUARD HUMAN RIGHTS OF WOMEN IN AFGHANISTAN

    Chicago, IL, October 27, 2004

On October 20, 2004, the National Association of Women Lawyers sent a letter to President George W. Bush expressing deep concern about the vulnerable lives and human rights of women in Afghanistan. In light of the continually unstable political state of Afghanistan, this action was in follow-up to a previous letter that NAWL had sent to the White House urging the President to increase funding for the women ministry.

NAWL is persistent in promoting and upholding the rights of women both at home and abroad.
