Chair Susan Andres called the meeting to order.

Minutes - René Eichem moved, Kevin Ryan seconded to approve the minutes from the August 5, 2004 meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Motion passed.

Treasurer's Report - Treasurer Francine Walker reviewed highlights of the financial report. She said dues income has been increasing steadily since 2000. As of October 4, 2004, the section has a balance of $21,546.55 in its account with workshop expenses still to be paid.

Committees - Chair Susan Andres asked everyone to consider serving on a committee this year. She reviewed the committees and their missions.

Workshop Chair Presentation - Chair Susan Andres presented Workshop Chair Duane Stanley with a gift in appreciation for his work in organizing the workshop.

2005 Workshop: Orlando - Workshop Chair Francine Walker handed out a promotion flier for the next workshop to be held September 28 - October 1, 2005. She reviewed the events planned and said help was still needed on the Program, Sponsorship and Hospitality Committees.

2006 Workshop - Chair Susan Andres announced that the 2006 workshop will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She said efforts were being made to hold the workshop during the balloon festival.
Scholarships - Cynthia Kuhn reported three scholarships were awarded this year instead of the usual two. She recognized the scholarship recipients and encouraged section members to spread the word that scholarships are available.

Special Committees - Chair Susan Andres called attention to the special committees created:
· Survey Evaluation
· Strategic Planning
· Leadership Development
· Sponsorships
· Best Web Practices.

She explained that Best Web Practices was not quite a white paper and will be guidelines for what makes good Web sites.

Presentation to Past Chair - Immediate Past Section Chair Cynthia Kuhn was presented gifts and a plaque recognizing her service to the section.

Division for Bar Services Report - Jill Werner reminded section members that the member resource directory is available on the section's Web page that includes a description of responsibilities for each section member. She reported the section listserve is current. She called attention to new books just published by the ABA that will be available on the ABA's new Web book store. She said ABA staffer Dan Rubin left to enter law school, and Michael Ward has taken his place. She said that her responsibilities have been expanded to include working with bar foundations.

Award Winners - Ann Scarle and Chris Cendagorta were recognized as this year's recipients of the Anne Charles and Wally Richter Awards.
