Ray
Wong is the chairman of Hancock Rothert & Bunshoft LLP,
which he joined in 1981. Elected chairman in 2000, he sets in
motion the strategic planning and direction for the firm.
Mr. Wong's
practice focuses on a variety of complex insurance coverage
and extra contractual disputes, employment, sports and recreation,
and other business and civil litigation. He has practiced
for more than twenty years in courts throughout California
and the United States, representing individual and corporate
clients in all facets of civil litigation. Mr. Wong's litigation
philosophy is to try to obtain the earliest and most economical
resolution of the dispute, but to be prepared to try the case,
if necessary.
Mr. Wong
is also an active member of the Bay Area local community.
He currently is a member of the Board of Directors for the
San Francisco Legal Aid Society. Mr. Wong also has served
on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Bar Association
and on the San Francisco Bar Association's Judiciary Committee,
having chaired the Judiciary Committee for two years. Mr.
Wong also has been selected to serve as a mediation panelist
in the Early Settlement Program of the San Francisco Court
and the San Francisco Bar Association.
Mr. Wong
is a strong supporter of the Bar Association of San Francisco's
LEAP program, a program that helps individuals attain long-term
self-sufficiency by providing training in vocational skills,
and spoke at their recent graduation reception. His involvement
is noted in, "Graduates Make the LEAP to Self-Sufficiency"
(The Bar Association of San Francisco Newsletter, April 22,
2003).
Mr. Wong
chaired a panel discussion entitled, "Winning Strategies
in Complex Mediations". The discussion was part of the
American Bar Association's Spring Mega Meeting: Investing
in Diversity, Investing in Ourselves, and was held in San
Francisco on April 11-12, 2002. The program covered strategies
for successfully mediating business disputes. The panel consisted
of speakers representing various perspectives: a professional
mediator, an in-house attorney, a plaintiff's attorney, and
Mr. Wong presented the defense view. Mr. Wong speaks extensively
on a variety of litigation and law firm management issues
in forums throughout the United States.
