At Rutgers University, Mr. Turman was a finalist in the Nathan
Baker Trial Competition, served as a faculty-appointed Legal
Research and Writing Instructor and was elected President of
the Student Bar Association. He was named an Earl Warren Scholar,
the Judge Herbert H. Tate, Sr., Scholar and received the Judge
J. Skelley Wright Prize for Civil Rights and Human Affairs.
Mr. Turman was also the law clerk to the Honorable John J. Hughes
of the United States District Court in New Jersey. |

Background: |
Having tried to verdict both jury
and bench trials, Mr. Turman is an experienced litigator, primarily
representing mid-size companies in wrongful termination and
employment discrimination litigation; National Labor Relations
Board matters, unfair labor practice proceedings, Title VII
proceedings, including race, sex, religious and age harassment
and discrimination; unfair competition proceedings; and state
and federal wage and hour litigation. He counsels employers
on the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Uniform Trade Secrets
Act, the California Business and Professions Code, the Family
and Medical Leave Act, employee terminations, workplace violence,
pre-employment screening, employment agreements, restrictive
covenants, trade secrets and unfair competition; and drug and
alcohol testing.
Mr. Turman counsels on, writes about, gives numerous speeches
and presentations and conducts in-house employment law training
programs regarding a wide variety of employment and employee
relations topics. He is a member of the State Bars of California,
New York and New Jersey. He is also a board member and chair
of the Membership/Outreach Committee of the Bay Area Lawyers
for Individual Freedom and has served as the chair of the
Bar Association of San Francisco's Minority Scholarship Committee.
Mr. Turman is an active volunteer with the Aids Emergency
Fund, and a member of the Charles Houston Bar.
Prior to joining HB&B, Mr. Turman was corporate counsel
on litigation and communications matters at Ketchum Communications,
Inc. It is Mr. Turman's strong interest in the mix of law
and communications and a passion to work with underserved
segments that led him to develop strategies such as Large
Scale Solutions for Mid-Size Employers and 10 Ways Mid-Size
Employers Can Improve the Communications of Company Rules.
