He earned his J.D. from Howard University School of Law, where he received a number of awards and scholarships. An active contributor to the Howard Law Journal, Mr. Bolden published a Case Note on Constitutional Law -- The Fourth Amendment Protective Order for Non-Violent Fleeing Felons (Howard Law Journal, Vol. 29-I, 1985). He also participated in the National Moot Court Team and Board of Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity. He received his B.A., cum laude, in political science, from Morehouse College. |

A. Scott Bolden’s practice focuses on complex civil and criminal defense litigation. As part of his multifaceted litigation practice, Mr. Bolden has defended clients in the local and federal courts in connection with claims for fraud and breach of contract; employment discrimination; real estate tax; education matters; government contract disputes; tort claims and other commercial litigation matters. With respect to his criminal practice, Mr. Bolden has defended individuals and corporate clients in connection with grand jury proceedings; conducted internal investigations for major public and private corporations; advised clients on white collar criminal issues as well as corporate compliance with the Federal Sentencing Guidelines; and defended witnesses in depositions before House and Senate Investigation Committees. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bolden was an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office. In that capacity he served as lead counsel in over 20 trials for both the State Criminal and Supreme Courts. He also presented complex criminal cases to grand juries, drafted complaints and pre-trial motions; participated in all aspects of criminal investigation, discovery and motion practice; drafted briefs and argued criminal appellate cases on behalf of the State of New York. |

He is a member of the Board of Directors and Past President of the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce (1998) and a Director of the Sequoia National Bank, Individual Development Corporation, Greater D.C. Cares, and is a former alternate board member of the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority. He is also a member of the Federal City Council, Economic Club of Washington, D.C. and is a 1997 Leadership Washington graduate. In 1998, Mr. Bolden was appointed by Chief Judge Norma Holloway Johnson of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia to serve as a member of its Committee on Grievances. Mr. Bolden also serves on the Board of Governors of the District of Columbia Bar. |
