Preview of Supreme Court Cases — get an advance look at the issues before the Court to determine how they might affect you and your clients

Must a patent licensee breach a license agreement before filing a declaratory judgment lawsuit against the licensor? Does the six-year statute of limitations for contract claims by the federal government apply to administrative proceedings? Does the Federal Employers’ Liability Act create a relaxed causation standard for railway negligence actions? These are among the questions posed on the Supreme Court's docket for the 2006-2007 term.

The ABA Division for Public Education Web site is home to a Preview of United States Supreme Court Cases with a short, one paragraph description of the case via the “Cases at a Glance” feature. Information is available going back to the 1999-2000 term, and is searchable by key word.

Also available at the site is a more detailed listing of cases that includes the briefs filed for which oral argument is expected. This listing is cross-referenced by month and case name. Finally, readers may search past terms to find out how the Court ruled and read portions of the opinions rendered. These case highlights are organized by term and topic areas.

Subscribers to “Preview” also receive expert analysis of every case before the Supreme Court even before oral arguments are made.
