Client newsletters available to help lawyers
reach their clients
Regular communication from your law office to current and prospective clients
is a proven method of enhancing client relations, stimulating referrals,
and creating name recognition for your practice. And establishing yourself
as a source of reliable information will likely make you be seen as a trusted
source when it comes to a client's legal needs. But how do you find the time
to develop such communications while still managing the every day demands
of your practice?
You don't have to.
The American Bar Association Division for Public Education publishes a newsletter,
YourLaw, with your clients in mind. Each issue includes information about
legal issues that may affect your clients directly. Topics covered include real
property, business, estate planning, consumer issues, taxation, personal injury
and family law.
In addition to educating your clients about these issues, YourLaw helps them
recognize when it's time to turn to you for professional legal help.
Various other ABA member groups also publish their own client-oriented newsletters
and magazines. For example, the Section of Family Law's series of publications
include one issue of Family Advocate titled “My Parents Are Getting Divorced:
A Handbook by and for Kids,” that helps you help your clients with such
topics as “Spending Time with Each Parent,” “Kids Want Parents
to Know” and “How to Talk with Your Lawyer,” as well as a series
of Client Manuals.
