ABA joins forces with U.S. Department of Commerce and others to develop China Intellectual Property Rights Advisory Program for Small & Medium-size Enterprises
Assisting American businesses in understanding and developing an intellectual property protection strategy for the Chinese market is one of the goals of the Small- and Medium-Size Enterprises Advisory Program being cosponsored by the American Bar Association Section of International Law.
Working with the U.S. Department of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce in China and the National Association of Manufacturers, the ABA has launched a China IPR Advisory Program that allows small and medium-sized businesses a free, one-hour consultation with an experienced volunteer lawyer relating to their intellectual property rights in China. Volunteers from the ABA Section of International Law and the American Chamber will staff the initiative.
In addition to developing a strategy for intellectual property protection, the program will attempt to provide small and medium-sized businesses with a means to determine what protections exist under Chinese law for intellectual property violations, and answer China-specific questions about intellectual property disputes.
Lawyers with experience advising clients on the risks facing their intellectual property from doing business in China, or on enforcing intellectual property rights in China, are invited to add their names to the referral list. Information is available here.
