How you can help
“Although Katrina’s damage is great, America’s response will be greater,” wrote ABA President Michael S. Greco in a letter to ABA colleagues.
Greco, along with the entire ABA, encourages all Americans to do their part in assisting victims of Hurricane Katrina. The ABA Web site will direct you to such resources as:
- FEMA general information
- Addresses of the Louisiana and Mississippi state bar associations (learn how to donate materials to assist lawyers in re-establishing their practices)
- The American Red Cross, America’s Second Harvest and the Salvation Army, which are all accepting cash and, in some instances goods, for those displaced and suffering from the disaster
- Information on charitable donations
- Operation: Share your Home
“The ABA and its members will do our part to help the country recover and rebuild. Together we can, and we will, get through these trying times,” assures Greco.
