Wm. T. (Bill) Robinson III

Wm. T. (Bill) Robinson III of Covington, Ky., is Treasurer of the American Bar Association. He began his three-year term as Treasurer in August 2005, upon adjournment of the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago.
Robinson is the Member-in-Charge of the Northern Kentucky offices of the law firm of Frost Brown Todd LLC. He has been a strong leader in volunteer service to the legal profession and to his community where he is particularly active in economic development, human relations, education and the arts.
Robinson’s responsibilities as Treasurer of the ABA include working closely with Senior Management in the oversight of Association funds, budgets and investments and reporting periodically on Association finances to the ABA Board of Governors and House of Delegates. As ABA Treasurer, he serves on the ABA Board of Governors and its Executive Committee and on the American Bar Foundation Board of Directors. He is also an ex-officio Board Member of the American Bar Endowment (ABE), ABA Retirement Funds (ABA/RF) and the ABA Journal Board of Editors.
Prior to being elected ABA Treasurer, Robinson served on the Association's Board of Governors, where he was a member of the Executive Committee and chair of the Finance Committee. He served as Kentucky State Delegate for three terms to the ABA House of Delegates, leading Kentucky’s delegation to the ABA policy-making body and representing Kentucky on the Association’s Nominating Committee. He is a past chair of ABA Standing Committee on Bar Activities and Services and of the ABA Standing Committee on Substance Abuse.
Robinson was 50th president of the Kentucky Bar Association, first chair of the Kentucky IOLTA fund, president of the Kentucky Bar Foundation and co-founder/first president of the Salmon P. Chase American Inn of Court. He is a Fellow of both the International Society of Barristers and the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and is a sustaining member of the American Law Institute and a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Robinson is immediate past chair of the Board of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, and co-founded the Metropolitan Growth Alliance of Greater Cincinnati. He is a past vice-chair for economic development of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, a past chair of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. He is past chair of the Cincinnati USA Partnership, and a founding board member and secretary/treasurer of the Tri-County Economic Development Corporation.
Robinson is a past co-chair of Bridges for a Just Community (formerly, the National Conference of Community and Justice [NCCJ]) and continues as an emeritus member of the Board. He is an Advisory Trustee of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, and has served on the boards of the Cincinnati Institute of Fine Arts, the Taft Museum, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Dan Beard Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Thomas More College, the Athenaeum of Ohio and Mount St. Joseph College.
Robinson has received numerous awards including: The Distinguished Service Citation from the National Conference of Community and Justice, the Themis Award from the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Judge Learned Hand Award from the American Jewish Committee, the Jacob E. Davis Volunteer Leadership Award from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, The Lincoln Award from Northern Kentucky University, the Outstanding Lawyer Award from the Kentucky Bar Association and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Walter R. Dunlevy Frontiersman Award and Best Lawyers in America.
Robinson is a graduate of Thomas More College and the College of Law at the University of Kentucky where he has been inducted into the College of Law’s Alumni Hall of Fame.
