CHICAGO, Feb. 5, 2004 – The American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) has launched e-Dicta (www.edicta.org), a comprehensive Web site that provides legal professionals with a single place to access up-to-date information and a wide range of perspectives on topics related to tort, trial and insurance law and practice. Some of the perspectives are not supported by ABA policy.
"TIPS stands at the forefront of anticipating emerging legal issues and developing tools for legal professionals that are unique and easily available," said TIPS Chair Linda A. Klein.
"E-Dicta accomplishes this by providing lawyers with a single place to access hundreds of resources and viewpoints on issues that are essential to their work."
Through the electronic magazine, or e-zine, portion of the site, lawyers can stay current on breaking news and recent cases by accessing more than 100 live news feeds that are updated hourly. The e-zine incorporates news on such areas as insurance law, civil litigation and law and technology.
The portal section of e-Dicta contains hundreds of links, articles and resources on issues such as Internet risk and insurance, medical malpractice, mold liability, personal injury and tort reform.
The information presented in e-Dicta may contain views the ABA does not support. The publication of such views on this Web site is not an endorsement by the ABA or by TIPS. Since the ABA is not responsible for the content of Web sites to which e-Dicta links, the inclusion of such sites on e-Dicta does not denote an endorsement by the ABA or by TIPS.
The ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section is the only national professional group to bring together plaintiffs’ lawyers, defense lawyers and insurance and corporate counsel for the exchange of information and ideas. The section has more than 25,000 members and 36 general committees that focus on substantive and procedural matters in areas including aviation and space law, fidelity and surety law, medical malpractice, transportation law and others.
The American Bar Association is the largest voluntary professional membership association in the world. With more than 400,000 members, the ABA provides law school accreditation, continuing legal education, information about the law, programs to assist lawyers and judges in their work, and initiatives to improve the legal system for the public.
