FEATURED RELEASE

Tips to Avoid Home Repair Disasters

American homeowners spent more than $215 billion last year on home improvements. A surprising number of them have been ripped off by unscrupulous contractors.

As we approach the one-year anniversary of the most devastating hurricane in U.S. history, we find that even Hurricane Katrina victims have become targets for scam artists.

This video package features a family who weathered Katrina, but was left reeling in the wake of a fraudulent contractor. The contractor took $11,000 from them but didn’t do any work. But you don’t have to be a storm victim to fall prey to con artist contractors.

The American Bar Association has published a new book, “TheABA Legal Guide to Home Renovation”, filled with tips for all homeowners considering remodeling or repairing their homes. This piece features tips from the book and a link to a web site where consumers can get more information. This video news package is for your free and unrestricted use in news broadcasts.
