September 1999Vol. 28, No. 1Become a National Student Leader Interested in becoming a national officer for the ABAs Law Student Division? Nominations are open for the 2000-01 offices of chair, vice chair, and secretary-treasurer. These national officers comprise three of the four seats on the Board of Governors executive committee and work to oversee Division operations and set Division policy. This is a great opportunity to lead the national organization for law students and identify and correct issues you think are important to law students. The postmark deadline for filing nomination papers is Oct. 1. Officers are elected by the Board of Governors at the fall meeting in November and begin their terms the following August at the Divisions annual meeting. Any student attending an ABA-approved law school is eligible to seek national office. All candidates for national office must attend the November meeting at their own expense, or seek funds from non-Division sources, such as the candidates law school deans office. Campaign activities are also strictly limited. For more information on running for national office, see the guidelines on page 50.
