Competition Seeks Future Tax Lawyers
Would you like to gain knowledge about complex "real-world"
tax transactions? Would you like to experience hands-on tax planning
in a large-firm atmosphere?
The ABA Section of Taxation Young Lawyers Forum is sponsoring its
third-annual Law
Student Tax Challenge, open to all students at ABA-approved
law schools who are interested in tax law. The competition will
focus on the tax consequences of a complex tax-planning problem.
Teams will be evaluated on two criteria: a memorandum to a senior
partner and a letter to the client explaining the result. Based
on this written work product, semifinalist teams will be invited
to the Taxation Section's 2004 Midyear Meeting in Kissimmee, Fla.,
Jan. 29-31, to defend their papers before a panel of some of the
country's top tax professionals.
The Tax Challenge problem is available on the Young Lawyers Forum
web site. For further information, visit www.abanet.org/tax/groups/ylf.
