How to Work at ProBAR

ProBAR needs your help. Every day, scores of people are caught crossing the border from Mexico and detained. Some are seeking asylum. ProBAR needs law students, recent law graduates, legal assistants, and interpreters to help interview detainees, explain rights and procedures to them, draft asylum applications, develop supporting evidence, write legal memoranda, and prepare applicants to testify at their court hearings. You would work under an experienced immigration lawyer at ProBAR.

Classroom or work experience in immigration law is not required, but it is preferred, and Spanish proficiency is helpful. Living and travel reimbursements may be available to those who need it. Law students can work at ProBAR during the winter and spring breaks, immediately following graduation, or during their summer vacations.

To find out more, call ProBAR coordinator Meredith Linsky at 956-425-9231 or e-mail her at ProBARTX@att.net.
