Women Law Students to Meet in Seattle

The National Women Law Students Association (NWLSA), an affiliate of the ABA Law Student Division, recently announced that its seventh annual conference will take place at the Seattle University School of Law March 2-5. Traci Gaudreau, a law student at Seattle University and NWLSA Conference 2000 director, made the following announcement:
"Our goal is to have representation from each member school, and I look forward to working closely with all of you to make this a reality!

"The theme for this year's conference is Phenomenal Women Move Forward: Prepared for the New Millennium. Our purpose is to bring together law students and female professionals from all over the country to discuss issues that are currently facing women in the legal profession. The panels include international law, careers in fields of law that are traditionally male-dominated, rewriting the law school curriculum, diversity, alternative dispute resolution, religion and the law, disability law, alternative lifestyles, parenting and legal careers, networking, public service, and much more. The third annual Sojourner Truth Moot Court Competition will also be held in conjunction with the conference.

"Keynote speakers include Washington State Supreme Court Justice Faith Ireland, Washington State Insurance Commissioner (and U.S. Senate candidate) Deborah Senn, professor Esther Vicente from Puerto Rico, and many more.

"We are currently accepting presentation proposals for the conference from students, professors, and professionals. We are also accepting Campaign 2001 applications from those schools interested in hosting next year's conference. Finally, if you are interested in running for a board position for next year, please contact me as soon as possible with your name, contact information, and the position you are interested in.

"I hope that you will consider attending the conference and taking advantage of this tremendous opportunity. Please feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions or need any assistance regarding the conference. My home phone number is 425-402-7329 and my e-mail address is tracig@seattleu.edu."
