Student Division Launches Web Site
W ith more than 6,000 Hispanic students in law schools across the countryincluding Puerto Ricoand enrollment on the rise, the Hispanic National Bar Association Law Student Division recently launched an interactive web site to reach as many students as possible. The site www.students.hnba.com provides the latest information on HNBA/LSD, choosing and getting into a law school, job and networking opportunities, scholarship and financial assistance, tools and advice on succeeding in law school, and many other areas of interest to law students, Hispanic or otherwise. "The interactive web site begins the unveiling of new benefits and services that we will provide our membership into the next millennium," says Juan Roberto Gonzalez, the sites creator and HNBA/LSD president-elect. "The current HNBA leadership have been working hard to improve the services and benefits we provide to Hispanic law students across the country, and this web site is only the beginning," says Gonzalez, a third-year student at Catholic Univeristy of America Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C. Created in 1990, HNBAs Law Student Division is the only national organization dedicated to providing Hispanic law students with the tools necessary to succeed in law school. "This site is an indication of where HNBA/LSD is headed," says Alex Sanchez, the organizations executive director. "HNBA is dedicated to providing students with all the support they need to become outstanding legal professionals, and this web site will help us accomplish that goal." The site will be maintained through a variety of web affiliate programs that target students and corporate or law firm sponsorship of certain areas. West Group has become HNBA/LSDs first corporate partner, sponsoring the "Welcome" page of the HNBA/LSD web site and providing funds for the hiring of an assistant executive director for law students.
