Message from the Governor
We hope you will be able to join the ABA Law Student Division on February 9, 2008 at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois for the 7th Circuit Spring Meeting and Election. The Spring Meeting will provide you with an opportunity to network with fellow students from across the circuit, attend substantive programming and participate in the election of the 2008-2009 Circuit Governor.
Important Information
Advance Registration Deadline: February 2 , 2008
Please arrive to the meeting on time as local attorneys and other law professional will be in attendance.

Proxy Format and Procedure
Who
Votes For the New Governor?
The ABA Representative and
the SBA President (hereafter referred to as Delegates) from
each ABA-approved law school who must be current ABA Law Student Division
members who have paid their dues in full in order to be certified to participate
in the Division elections. A principal delegate who is not a member, but
wishes to vote in the elections, must join the ABA in order to be certified
to vote. Otherwise, he/she may proxy his/her vote to another law student
from his/her school, provided the law student is a fully paid member of
the ABA Law Student Division. Proxies must present signed written authorization
from the principal delegate, preferably on school letterhead stationery,
in order to be certified.
Election
of the Circuit Governor:
The election of the 2008-2009 Circuit Governor will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2008. Details regarding the election and candidates will be distributed as they become available. During the election, certified
delegates must sign in with the election judges in order to receive a
ballot and cast their law school's vote for Circuit Governor. Election results
will be announced Saturday afternoon.
Sample Proxy Letter Language I, {principal delegate~s name}, {title: ABA Representative or SBA President} of the {law school name} and a principal delegate in the Assembly of the American Bar Association Law Student Division, in accordance with ABA Law Student Division Governing Rules, hereby designate as my proxy {name of student to whom proxy is given}, to cast my vote(s) at the Spring Meeting and Circuit Governor Election, in (city), (state), to be held (month) (day), 2008. {Signature and date} |
Roommate Request
Law Student Division members looking for a roommate to share expenses during the Spring Meeting will be posted below as requests are received. Contacting perspective roommates and agreeing upon arrangements will be your own responsibility. The ABA Law Student Division does not assume any responsibility for making such arrangements.
To advertise for a roommate, please complete the roommate request form. Your request will be posted within 24 business hours of receipt.

How to Register
Step 1: Complete the registration form no later than February 2, 2008. You will receive an automatic confirmation that your registration has been received. If you are unable to register by February 2, you may register on-site at the meeting. If you decide to register when your get to the meeting, please be sure to have your registration form completed before you arrive and your ABA membership number readily available in order to expedite the process. If you are not an ABA Law Student Division member, we hope you will come to the meeting and experience first-hand what the ABA Law Student Division has to offer.
Step 2: Once you arrive at the meeting, meeting attendees should stop at the registration table location outside Room 503 of the law school to sign-in, pick-up their badges and a final schedule of events before proceeding to the meeting room. Registration for the meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. outside Room 503 of The John Marshall Law School.
Please arrive to the meeting at least 20 minutes before the first session begins so that you can check in and be settled before the program begins as local attorneys and other law professionals will be in attendance.
