Arbitration Competition

2009-2010 Entry Form

Entry and Fee Payment Deadline
Arbitration Competition entry forms and fees must be received no later than September 18, 2009.

Membership Requirement
All competitors must be ABA Law Student Division members in good standing (i.e. dues paid in full for the current bar year—September 1 to August 31) by October 25, 2009.

NOTE: Competitors who select the “Bill Me” option run the risk of disqualification if the ABA does not receive their Law Student dues by October 25, 2009.

Competitor Name and ABA ID Number Deadline
Using an online form provided for this purpose, schools must supply the Law Student Division with each team member's name and his or her ABA member identification number on or before October 25, 2009 (this is a strict liability deadline, there will be no exceptions).

By submitting this form, you affirm that the Faculty Advisor and Dean listed below have authorized your school's entry into this competition and that your school agrees to comply with the aforementioned deadlines and membership requirement.

This person, who may be a student, staff or faculty member, is considered the law school's main contact for all Law Student Division announcements about the competition. Because this person is responsible for disseminating the information to the school's team(s), please identify a reliable person who regularly checks his or her email. This person must promptly respond to inquiries from the Law Student Division.

Entry Fee

  • The entry fee for the first team is $450, except that the entry fee for each regional host school’s first team is waived.
  • The entry fee for every school’s second team, if the school is allowed to send a second team, is $250.

We understand that payment for the second team must arrive at the ABA Law Student Division two weeks after we are notified that we may send a second team.

Payment by Check Information

Cancellation/Refund Policy
All cancellation requests must be made in writing to the Law Student Division's Chicago office at ac@staff.abanet.org. A $50 administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds. There will be no refunds for cancellations made after September 18, 2009.

Competition Problem
Payment must be received before the ABA Law Student Division will distribute the Competition Problem to your school. The Competition Problem will be distributed September 21, 2009.

Informational DVD
To help you prepare for winning this year's competition, the ABA Law Student Division offers two versions of the Arbitration Competition Championship Round DVD. One version captures the National Championship Round in its entirety -- including the judges' critique. The other version contains the National Championship Round, along with the competition case file. Please visit the Law Student Division Competitions Video Page to purchase your copy.
