Arbitration Competition entry forms and fees must be received no later than September 19, 2008.

Cosponsor Information
The National Arbitration Forum cosponsors the ABA Law Student Division Arbitration Competition.

Team Information
Participation is limited to ABA Law Student Division members. Using an online form provided for this purpose, schools must supply each team member's name and his or her ABA member identification number at least three weeks prior to their regional competition. Members may obtain their ABA member identification number by calling 800/285-2221. Competitors who have not yet joined the ABA may do so by completing the online membership application or by calling 800/285-2221. Please allow 7-10 days to receive your member ID number when applying online.

Entry Fee

  • The entry fee for the first team is $450.00, except that the entry fee for each regional host schools' first team is waived.
  • The entry fee for the school’s second team, if the school’s second team is selected, remains $250.

Host School Fee
Only schools hosting this year's regional competitions are eligible for the host school rate.

We would like to enter a second team into the competition if space is available. We agree to pay the incremental fee of $250 upon acceptance of our school’s second team. We understand that payment for the second team must arrive at the ABA Law Student Division two weeks after we are notified that we may send a second team.

Service Charges
The Law Student Division will charge a $50 service charge for each incident identified below:

  • Returned or cancelled checks
  • Declined credit cards
  • Payments received after the stated payment deadline

Cancellation/Refund Policy
All cancellation requests must be made in writing to the Law Student Division's Chicago office at ac@staff.abanet.org. A $50 administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds. There will be no refunds for cancellations made after September 19, 2008.

Competition Problem
Payment must be received before the ABA Law Student Division will distribute the Competition Problem to your school. The Competition Problem will be distributed September 22, 2008, provided the Law Student Division has received the school's entry fee.

Informational DVD
To help you prepare for winning this year's competition, the ABA Law Student Division offers two versions of the Arbitration Competition Championship Round DVD. One version captures the National Championship Round in its entirety -- including the judges' critique. The other version contains the National Championship Round, along with the competition case file. Please visit the Law Student Division Competitions Page to purchase your copy. The 2007-08 DVDs will be released over the summer.
