A Message From Your 9th Circuit Governor
Hi, my name is Chris Surmeier.
I am pleased to serve the law students of Southern California and Hawaii as the Ninth Circuit Governor. I am a second year student at the University of San Diego School of Law. I received a BA in Social Sciences, Cum Laude, from Chapman University in 2006, and I retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in October 2007 after 20 years of active duty.
I would like to thank my newly appointed Executive Board. They are a dedicated group of leaders who, despite holding other billets and responsibilities, have volunteered to make the Ninth Circuit the best in the Law Student Division. They are already busy making 2008-09 a memorable school year. I am deeply honored to work with them.
I would also like to congratulate the SBA Presidents and ABA Representatives on their recent appointments. I know their efforts will positively impact their respective schools and the Circuit. I want to publicly reaffirm this Board’s commitment to assisting them in every way.
Finally, to the continuing students, I wish you an enjoyable summer. To prospective students considering schools within the Ninth Circuit, I would suggest that southern California and Hawaii are the best places in the world to do anything, including going to law school. And to the graduating Class of 2008, I wish you the best of luck, fair winds and following seas.
Warmest Regards,
Chris Surmeier
