A Message from Your Circuit Governor

Hello 9th Circuit Law Students!

Registration for the 2010 ABA Law Student Division 9th Circuit Spring Meeting, which will be held Friday, February 5th and Saturday, February 6th at Chapman University School of Law, is now open! REGISTRATION IS FREE!

I would like to encourage all 9th Circuit law students to apply for one of the many regional and national positions within the ABA Law Student Division leadership.  Information about the positions, including descriptions and application deadlines are available here.

In addition to numerous networking events, including a Friday night reception and Lunch with Experience on Saturday, both of which are hosted by Chapman University School of Law, students can hear from attorneys practicing in Entertainment Law, Criminal Law and Civil Litigation, as well as a panel of experienced judges. It is going to be a terrific event, so I encourage you to sign up now! More details about the registration process can be found by visiting the 9th Circuit registration page.

Finally, the election for your 2010-2011 9th Circuit Governor will be held at the conference, with candidate speeches being held during breakfast on Saturday, February 6. Come hear from your candidates!

For those traveling from out of Orange County wishing to stay in OC over the weekend, we have reserved a group rate for hotel accommodations at the Ayres Hotel on Katella Avenue.

I’d like to take this time to especially welcome all 1L’s in the 9th Circuit! Congratulations on your success thus far; and on finishing your 1st semester of law school. The next few years will certainly be challenging, yet rewarding.  The ABA Law Student Division is here to help you meet other like-minded law students, to help you network with legal professionals both established and up and coming, and to assist you in brainstorming, and developing ways to help improve the quality of legal education for all law students.

As always, please contact me any time, if you have any questions about the Spring Meeting, any Law Student Division programming that is set to take place this semester and next, and in general, any comments or concerns you may have, or simply to say “hi.”

I hope to see you at the Spring Meeting in Orange County!

Best,

Ruby Banipal
