Message from Your Circuit Governor
Welcome to the ABA Law Student Division 5th Circuit Home page! The Law Student Division consist of over 45,000 student members and our circuit is the largest in the nation, covering Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, representing more than 4,800 law students attending 26+ law schools. While you are getting to know our fine Circuit, let me introduce myself. My name is Tiffany V. Colbert and I am pleased to be your Governor for the 2009-2010 year! I graduated from the University of Central Florida and I currently attend Stetson University College of Law in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
As you know, the ABA is the largest voluntary professional organization in the world and the Law Student Division is an important part of the ABA. Some of the benefits provided by the ABA Law Student Division include subscriptions the ABA magazines and e-zines featuring articles that will keep you current on today’s hot legal issues, discounts on Bar Prep courses from Kaplan PMBR and BAR-BRI, leadership and networking opportunities, eligibility to participate in competitions and writing contests, and health insurance plans. Additionally, as a member of the ABA, you receive other perks such as discounts on travel, laptops, and if you have Sprint, your wireless plan!
Milton Berle once said, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” There are many ways to build that door by simply taking advantage of what the ABA has to offer to law students. Should you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to help you build and open those doors.
Together we are looking at a fantastic year!
Yours truly,
Tiffany Colbert

5th Circuit Welcomes Ave Maria School of Law
Following a multi-year study, Ave Maria School of Law’s Board of Governors decided to relocate the School of Law to southwest Florida effective August 2009. The Law School will occupy the 12-acre “Vineyards Campus,” which is located northeast of incorporated Naples, within minutes of legal employers in Naples and seven miles from the Gulf of Mexico. The Vineyards Campus will serve the Law School until the time when the Law School co-locates to the campus of Ave Maria University in eastern Collier County. Tell me more
