Message from the 11th Circuit Governor
Dear Fellow 11th Circuit Law Students:
My name is Albert Asphall and I am a second-year law student at Howard University School of Law. It is my honor and privilege to serve as the ABA Law Student Division 11th Circuit Governor and for the opportunity to represent law students in the Washington D.C. area to the American Bar Association.
As a member of the ABA Law Student Division Board of Governors, I'm extremely thrilled about having been given this opportunity to work with you. I look forward to representing the members of the 11th Circuit on a national level and to advocating on your behalf the issues and concerns of law schools in the District as they relate to improving the quality of our law school experience.
My main goal as your Circuit Governor will be to elevate the 11th Circuit. I hope to achieve this goal in the following ways:
- Increase membership in the ABA Law Student Division;
- Increase efforts of the mental health initiative to address the growing issues of mental wellness, substance abuse, and stress management that is becoming a growing challenge in law schools; and
- Encourage greater support and participation in the Division's Veteran's Advocacy initiative.
Although these are goals that will benefit us all, my primary goal as your Circuit Governor will be the enhancement of Communication. By this, I mean that I will serve as both the ear and the voice of students within circuit. I will be sure to disclose any and all information rapidly to all students and to ensure that all 11th Circuit students are up to date on ABA activities. Additionally, I always will be willing and certain to quickly respond to all questions and concerns from law students within the circuit and address these concerns in the most appropriate manner.
Finally, I realize that the enhancement of the 11th Circuit has to be a team effort. Therefore, I encourage everyone to get involved, either by applying for a Lieutenant Governor position or another leadership position within the Law Student Division. I will release information about Lieutenant Governor Positions shortly. Meanwhile, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me, either through e-mail or by completing the "Ask Albert" electronic form below.
I look forward to speaking with you and working with each and every one of you. Together, we can take the 11th Circuit higher.
Sincerely,
Albert C. Asphall
