New EDD Software Solutions Emerge
Don't have the budget for a complex system of servers, storage and processing power? Consider the newest alternatives to the popular litigation tech support.
IPRO Tech releases Software-as-a-Service for its eCapture Platform
Among the challenges of mounting a successful electronic discovery operation are the costs of acquiring and maintaining powerful hardware and software. This obstacle creates high costs of entry, which can drive the fixed costs of the operation beyond acceptable levels. This January IPRO Tech has the alternative to high entry costs. IPRO Tech is releasing its software-as-a-service (SaaS), which features its eCapture platform for service bureaus, law firms, corporate legal departments, government agencies and consultants.
Leveraging an increasingly popular software licensing model in SaaS, IPRO Tech believes it is offering a revolutionary approach to empowering its customers to take full advantage of its eCapture platform. Users would have full control of their data and responsibility for the eCapture processes, while IPRO Tech provides a state-of-the-art operating environment and rental of their popular software. For example, if a corporate legal department was considering building an internal electronic discovery processing lab but didn't have the budget to purchase the servers and processing nodes that make up a sophisticated system, the SaaS/eCapture solution would be a strong alternative to evaluate.
This approach can be of real value to a legal department or law firm that has the internal resources to manage the work but not the budget to build a robust combination of servers, storage and processing power. This service can also be used for overflow with existing eCapture operations.
IPRO Tech's eCapture offers a multi-threaded and true distributed processing environment which translates into faster document processing. Additionally, the software provides the ability to discover and process email messages, attachments and embedded files plus run Boolean and keyword searches to locate specific files prior to processing. Users can also perform QC by document type, multiple document types or build special filters to suit specific needs.
Image Capture Engineering Releases LAW 5.0 Prediscovery
The long awaited LAW 5.0 makes its debut this January. The latest iteration of the popular litigation support software merges Image Capture's Z-Print electronic discovery application into the main LAW application.
Among many benefits of LAW 5.0 is management of all electronic files natively including multi-media files, direct export to Concordance databases (Summation and others are in the works) and improved searching and filtering capabilities allowing users to further cull data into smaller sets.
Current LAW users may also like new features such as load-file only exports, improved logging function, saving production profiles (sort of a template for processing tasks), dynamic tagging, and the ability to export electronic discovery work-product (either native files, images or both) in a single export. And as always, one of the premium features of the LAW software package is the flat licensing model that has no per click fees.
