Export Acrobat PDF Comments Back to Word and Make Feedback Easier to Swallow

by Adobe Systems, Inc.

December 2005

Receiving feedback can often leave a bad taste in your mouth -- especially if you need to incorporate comments back into your original document. Fortunately, if you are working with

Microsoft Word, exporting comments from Adobe Acrobat 7.0 is a creamy-smooth process -- ensuring that valuable feedback remains clear and never gets lost.

To export comments for Adobe PDF to Word:

  1. In Word for Windows (2002 or later), select "Import Comments" from the "Adobe Comments" menu.
  2. Select the Adobe PDF document from which you are exporting comments AND the original Word document. You may prioritize comments by any status, checked stats, author or comment type. Click "Continue."
  3. The Adobe PDF comments will appear in bubbles along side of the Word document.
  4. Follow instructions to automatically apply edits to the Word document.

Remember, if the original Word document was edited after the Adobe PDF document was created, or if the Adobe PDF document has been modified (for example, pages have been rearranged or deleted), comments may not be imported successfully.
