Subcommittees
Subcommittee Descriptions
The Trial Evidence Committee has twelve subcommittees, described below. All of these subcommittees are responsible for identifying emerging issues within the subcommittee’s jurisdiction, writing articles for our Committee newsletter and developing content for our Committee website.
Relevance Rules Subcommittee
This subcommittee focuses on the Federal Rules of Evidence relating to relevance (Rules 401 through 415).
Privilege Rules Subcommittee
This subcommittee focuses on federal rules and case law relating to privilege.
Witnesses Rules Subcommittee
This subcommittee focuses on the Federal Rules of Evidence relating to witnesses, including rules concerning competency of witnesses and impeachment of witnesses. (Rules 601 through 615).
Expert Rules Subcommittee
This subcommittee focuses on the Federal Rules of Evidence relating to expert witnesses and other opinion testimony, including the admissibility of expert testimony under the Supreme Court’s decision in Daubert. (Rules 701 through 706)
Hearsay Rules Subcommittee
This subcommittee focuses on the Federal Rules of Evidence relating to hearsay and its exceptions. (Rules 801 through 807).
Electronic Evidence Subcommittee
This subcommittee focuses on the admissibility of electronic evidence.
Criminal Evidence Subcommittee
This subcommittee focuses on evidentiary issues that are of particular importance to lawyers in criminal cases.
Ethics Subcommittee
This subcommittee focuses on the ethical implications of evidentiary problems.
Program Subcommittee
This subcommittee develops programs proposals for the Section of Litigation Annual CLE Conference and ABA annual meeting and, if a proposal is accepted, helps to organize the program. This subcommittee is working on a program for the 2007 Section of Litigation Annual CLE Conference entitled, “One Size Not For All: Cross Examination Styles For Problem Witnesses.”
Newsletter Subcommittee
This subcommittee is responsible for editing and publishing the Committee’s newsletter. It works with the Editorial Board and the other subcommittees to develop articles for the newsletter.
Website Subcommittee
This subcommittee is responsible for developing the Committee’s website. It works with the other subcommittees to develop content on trial evidence issues.
Membership Subcommittee
This subcommittee is responsible for recruiting new committee members and communicating with existing committee members.
