Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth face numerous challenges. This program will focus on providing lawyers with advocacy tools to successfully represent these youth. Specifically, our panelists will discuss the representation of youth in child welfare and juvenile justice cases and around pervasive issues faced by this population such as homelessness. We will also discuss accessing appropriate services and ensuring social service and court personnel are culturally sensitive when dealing with this population.
This program is presented by the American Bar Association Section of Litigation in conjunction with its Section Annual Conference. The program is cosponsored by the following committees of the Section of Litigation: Children’s Rights Litigation Committee, Legal Services Delivery, and the LGBT Litigator Committee.
