ABA Annual Meeting, August 2008, New York


At the 2008 ABA Annual Meeting in New York, the International Litigation Committee was proud to host a panel of distinguished speakers to discuss The International Criminal Court: At Long Last, Should the United States Finally Join Or Just Say No? The panel was moderated by Jeffrey Bleich, 2007–2008 President of the California State Bar, Munger, Tolles & Olson, LLP. Panelists were: Kenneth Roth, Executive Director, Human Rights Watch; David Scheffer, Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (1999-2001), Northwestern University School of Law; and Edwin Williamson, Former Legal Advisor, U.S. Department of Justice, Sullivan & Cromwell, LLP.




ABA Section of Litigation Annual Conference, April 2008, Washington, DC


At the 2008 ABA Section Annual Conference, the International Litigation Committee hosted a roundtable discussion on International Pro Bono Opportunities: Where Lawyers Are Needed Beyond Our Borders. The discussion was moderated by Barb Dawson.




Section of Litigation Darfur Legal Training Sessions, 2007–2008, London


The Section’s Darfur Legal Training Project held advocacy training sessions for lawyers from the Sudan in 2007 and 2008. The trainings, held in London, were designed to help build a strong case against those who are responsible for genocide in Darfur.
