About Our Subcommittees
The Committee has formed Subcommittees to focus on specific areas of substantive insurance coverage law and procedural aspects of insurance coverage litigation. All Subcommittees are co-chaired by a lawyer who typically represents policyholders and a lawyer who typically represents insurance companies, an arrangement that provides balance and promotes collegiality. The Subcommittees publish articles in our journal Coverage; propose, organize and present programs at the Committee's Midyear Meeting and other Section of Litigation meetings; and meet with Subcommittee members either at the Midyear Meeting or separately.
If you are interested in joining a Subcommittee, please contact:
- » Ernest Martin Jr. (Policyholder side)
- » Tanya Newman (Policyholder side)
- » Matt Schlesinger (Policyholder side)
- » Barbara Evans (Insurer side)
Task Forces
If you have an idea for a Task Force or other special project that may be of special interest to the Committee's members, contact your Subcommittee Co-Chairs.
Like the famous frog in the slowly heating pan of water, we all are beginning to feel the heat of global warming. With the assistance of our Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee’s website chairs and ABA web support, the Emerging Issues Subcommittee invites you to participate in a shared learning experience surrounding this fundamentally important issue.
This Subcommittee presents an opportunity for young lawyers (35 or under, or of any age but practicing less than five years) who practice in insurance coverage law to become involved at the ground-floor level of an ABA subcommittee. Membership in the Young Lawyers Subcommittee will provide young insurance coverage attorneys with a forum in which they can network with other coverage attorneys across the country.
Women's Initiative
The Committee is increasing networking and business development opportunities for women by sponsoring the Women's Coffee Hour each year at the ICLC's Annual Meeting in Tucson. The Coffee Hour provides a forum in which women can share ideas with other women coverage attorneys and insurance industry representatives from around the country. If interested, please contact Donna Wilson.
