Subcommittee Descriptions

Emerging Issues Subcommittee

The Emerging Issues Subcommittee looks out for and reports on new issues that appear likely to – or are already beginning to – impact our profession, especially relating to the use and presentation of expert witnesses in litigation.

Program Subcommittee

The Programs Subcommittee is tasked with brainstorming about topics and ideas for programs to be presented by our committee at the ABA Annual Meeting, the Litigation Section Annual Meeting, and Litigation Section CLE teleconferences. This subcommittee is instrumental in developing the program content, choosing the presenters and, as appropriate, introducing or participating in programs at the various conferences.

Membership Subcommittee

The Membership Subcommittee monitors the status of our committee membership, welcomes all new members, corresponds with members regarding continuing in their membership, and coordinates and pursues membership drives.

Website Subcommittee

The main purpose of the Website Subcommittee is to administer our committee website, including adding new content. The committee ensures that the website is updated regularly, considers what content may be useful, and implements content ideas provided by our members. The subcommittee’s ultimate goal is to develop our website as the “place to go” for information on the use of expert witnesses in litigation.

Publications Subcommittee

The Publications Subcommittee oversees the publication of our committee newsletter and our expert e-alerts. The subcommittee chairs are the editors-in-chief who coordinate efforts to obtain articles and other content for use in these publications. We have regional reporters who watch for cases and other reportable events related to the use, examination, and admissibility of expert testimony and other expert witnesses issues in order to prepare written pieces for submission to the editors for publication.

In addition to the specific responsibilities of this subcommittee to seek out items for publication, all Section members are invited to submit material to the subcommittee chairs for publication consideration. Please see our Editorial Calendar, Response to Request for Articles, and Author Guidelines for more information.
