Message from the Chairs
To our newest members, welcome, and to our continuing members, welcome back, to the Ethics and Professionalism Committee. We are undertaking the rejuvenation of the Committee with new leadership, a new, more active role within the Section of Litigation, and new opportunities for you, our members, to participate in the life and work of the Committee.
We have a number of exciting projects underway. We are busy preparing for the Section Annual Conference, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia from April 29 through May 1, 2009. We have proposed a three-program “track” of CLE programming for the meeting and have co-sponsored other ethics-related program proposals with several of our sister committees, including the Minority Trial Lawyer Committee and The Woman Advocate. We are also updating the Committee’s website with a new format and current, useful content. If you would like to provide content or to help edit the website, you can email Website Editor John Martin. Finally, because our subcommittees perform much of the Committee’s substantive work, we are revamping our subcommittee structure, eliminating some moribund subcommittees and creating some new ones. More information about the subcommittees we’re considering can be found here.
Becoming active in a subcommittee is a great way to get to know your fellow Section of Litigation members and to rise in Section leadership. If you would like to volunteer, if you have questions about what being a subcommittee chair entails, or if you have any suggestions about how we can improve our subcommittee structure, we would love to hear from you.
